A native New Mexican, La Emi began her Flamenco journey at the age of four and has emerged as a teacher and performer acclaimed for her artistry and craft.

A prominent performer, teacher and organizer in the state, La Emi, a New Mexico native, began studying the art of Flamenco with the María Benítez Institute for Spanish Arts (ISA) at the age of 4. In 2014, La Emi founded her own dance company, EmiArteFlamenco, and in 2017, she founded both EmiArteFlamenco Academy, a school for students of all ages, and Flamenco Youth de Santa Fe, a children’s company that performs for communities all around New Mexico.

In addition to performing in venues across the country, La Emi has traveled to Spain since 2013 to study intensively with notable dancers like Gala Vivancos, Carmela Greco, Belén López, Mónica Fernández, Anabel Moreno and La Popi and performed in major venues and events in Madrid, Granada and Seville. 



In the summer of 2018, she launched her professional career with Heritage Hotels, producing performances at the Benítez Cabaret at The Lodge at Santa Fe. La Emi has received recognition for her talent and work through the years, including Santa Fe Mayor’s Melissa Engestrom Youth Artist Award for Excellence in the Arts in 2012 and being selected as one of 12 young and emerging artists in Pasatiempo.

La Emi currently teaches and directs at the EmiArteFlamenco Academy, as well as performing in many venues throughout the country.

Vicente Griego “El Cartucho” From Dixon/Embudo, NM, Vicente is devoted to cante Flamenco. In 1999, he toured internationally with Jośe Greco II and was mentored by Alfonso Gabarri, “El Veneno.” Griego is a pupil of guitarist Jośe Valle and singer Jośe Fernández. Griego performs with Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company, and EmiArteFlamenco. He is lead singer in the rumba Flamenco band ReVóZo. Griego is also a faculty member at the University of New Mexico’s Theater and Dance department.
